Sr. Data Engineer

Agilus is recruiting for a Sr. Data Engineer in the Investment Management in a hybrid work environment in Toronto, Ontario. Agilus is partnered with a leading Canadian investment organization to hire a Sr. Data Engineer for their Investment Technology team. This contract role focuses on building data pipelines and analytics solutions that support key investment operations.
You will design scalable ETL workflows, develop cloud data models and collaborate with analysts and architects to enhance a modern Azure-based data platform. A typical day:- • Develop and maintain ETL workflows using Azure Data Factory and Databricks
- • Build and optimize data warehouse solutions using Azure services and Snowflake
- • Write high-quality Python and SQL for complex data transformations
- • Build Power BI dashboards and analytical reports that support business insights
- • Troubleshoot production issues and support data platform operations
- • Automate manual processes to improve efficiency and data quality
- • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and prototype solutions
- • Contribute to architectural design, documentation and continuous improvement
Successful candidates will have:- • 7 plus years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
- • Strong experience with the Azure data ecosystem
including Databricks, Data Factory, ADLS and Synapse
- • Advanced SQL and Python skills
- • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses
- • Data modeling experience and understanding of scalable data architecture
- • Experience with CI and CD, DevOps practices and source control
- • Strong Power BI development skills
