Engineer - Instrumentation Specialist (6 month term)

Agilus is recruiting for a Engineer - Instrumentation Specialist (6 month term) in the Energy Sector in Calgary, Alberta. As part of the Electrical & Controls Engineering group in Calgary, the Instrumentation Specialist plays a key role in the selection, design, and documentation of instrumentation for Enerflex-fabricated compression and gas processing packages.
The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert across a wide range of instrumentation, acting as a critical liaison between the Process Engineering and Controls Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation within each package. A typical day:- Work with vendors to select and order correct instrumentation for applications.
- Produce instrumentation specific documentation (Data Sheets, Instrument Index, Setpoint Lists and Hook up drawings).
- Work with the process engineering team to ensure selected instrumentation meets customer specification and approved manufacturer list.
- Ensure the instrumentation ordered is accurately shown on P&ID’s with complete control loops.
- Create configuration sheets, and support shop and field technicians with configuration of instrumentation.
- Assist in the preparation of construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with our in-house mechanical, architectural, and civil/structural design teams.
- Prepare construction scope of work documents for the purpose of obtaining proposals/bids from contractors.
- Inspect field work to verify compliance with “Issued for Construction Drawings”.
Successful candidates will have:- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation related role.
- Strong working knowledge and application of instrumentation in hazardous locations specifically in the oil and gas sector.
- In depth knowledge of flow meter and gas analyzer technology.
- Instrumentation Technologist Diploma, or Journeyman Instrumentation Technician an asset.
- Experience with ROC flow computers an asset.
- Experience with Allen Bradley control systems an asset.
- Experience in Equipment condition monitoring systems such as Bently Nevada and Rockwell XM an asset.
