Asset Strategy Specialist

Agilus is recruiting for a Asset Strategy Specialist in the oil & gas sector in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Equipment Strategy Contractor will support the Equipment Strategy Team by developing, reviewing, and maintaining asset and equipment strategies to improve reliability, availability, and cost effectiveness of operating assets. This role works closely with Reliability Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Planning teams to ensure strategies are practical, risk-based, and aligned with site reliability and stewardship objectives. Total rewards:- $50.00 - $60.00 hourly
- 8 Months of contract position
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
A typical day:- Develop and update Equipment Strategies in GE APM using ASM or RCM approach. Complete criticality analysis, and failure mode identification following Manage Equipment Strategy process to optimize risk and cost.
- Review and optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) tasks to ensure risk-based coverage.
- Support implementation of strategies, including task alignment, intervals, and job plan quality.
- Analyze asset performance and failure data to support strategy optimization and continuous improvement.
- Participate in strategy reviews, workshops, and cross-functional discussions with Operations and Maintenance.
- Ensure strategies align with site standards, reliability best practices, and applicable regulatory or stewardship requirements.
- Support backlog reviews, deferral assessments, and risk-based decision-making as required, Leverage RCM and Streamlined RCM assessments to identify the appropriate mitigation activities to manage the risk and meet performance requirements throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Work with Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering & Reliability personnel to ensure asset strategies are continuously improved, robust, and effective.
Successful candidates will have:- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering. Preference is given to applicants with a background in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) equipment.
- Must hold a Professional Engineering designation and be registered, or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
- Five or more years of industry experience, preferably in Oil Sands, Refinery, or Hydrocarbon Processing Facilities.
- Background in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or Asset Management.
- Experience developing Equipment / Asset Strategies in oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of RCM/ ASM/ RBI principles and maintenance strategy optimization, Strong analytical skills and ability to work with asset performance and maintenance data.
- Effective communicator capable of working across multi-disciplinary teams, Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical report writing, Possess skills in the use and application of GE-APM or other commercial strategy software, Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (mainly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and SAP.
