Electrical Engineer Overhead Transmission Lines

Fulltime permanent role in Edmonton, good benefits and experience Agilus is recruiting for a Electrical Engineer Overhead Transmission Lines in the Oil & Gas Industry in Edmonton, Alberta. Executes power system projects with strong engineering expertise
Focus on overhead line design, power systems, and substation overhead stringing
Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and supports business development
Supports clients across utilities, oil & gas, industrial facilities, substations, and generation sectors
Total rewards:- 100K - 160K annually
- Bonus: Based on company performance
- Vacation: 3 Weeks
- RRSP Matching: Starts at 3% and goes up based on tenure
- hybrid policy is 2 days per week in office (Tuesday and Wednesday)
Responsibilities:- Design overhead powerline structures (experience with >69 kV is an asset)
- Use PLS CADD, Spidacalc, or similar overhead line design tools
- Complete electrical system studies (grounding, load flow, short circuit, arc flash, motor starting, etc.)
- Write technical reports and decision point memoranda
- Develop relay settings and configuration files
- Perform software assisted studies (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, EMTP)
- Design medium and high voltage electrical systems
- Handle projects ranging from ~$10,000–$250,000
Requirements:- • Professional Electrical Engineer or Professional Technologist (registered with APEGA or immediately eligible)
- Minimum 7 years experience in power system design, overhead line design, or system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, grounding, load flow, harmonics, etc.)
- Ability to independently perform overhead line electrical engineering
- Ability to develop models and produce IFC (Issued for Construction) packages using overhead line design software
- Ability to design complete power systems (switchgear, MCCs, transformers, cables, trays, e houses, distribution centers, protection & control components)
- Specialized expertise (e.g., Utility or AESO power system studies) is an asset
