Agilus is recruiting for a WCB & Risk Specialist in the Construction Industry in Calgary, Alberta.
We’re seeking a WCB & Risk Specialist to lead structured risk and claims management across workers’ comp, insured claims, and enterprise risk. You’ll work with cross-functional teams while managing daily claims and supporting our evolving risk framework

A typical day:
  • Manage WCB Alberta and WorkSafe BC claims with timely, accurate case handling.
  • Guide leaders and safety teams through the claims process.
  • Coordinate insured claims such as vehicle, property, and injury incidents
  • Track claim trends and identify opportunities to reduce risk.
  • Build and maintain enterprise risk registers and lead risk reviews.
  • Develop processes, policies, and frameworks for an evolving risk function.
  • Support supplier and subcontractor pre-qualification and compliance
  • Partner with Safety, Legal, Procurement, and Operations to unify risk and claims programs.

The successful candidate brings:
  • Post-secondary education required; risk or safety certifications are an asset
  • 5–6 years of experience, including at least 2–3 years in the field, managing WCB/WorkSafe BC or similar workers’ compensation claims
  • Background in construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy/utilities, or other field-based operations
  • Hands-on experience assessing real operational and field risks
  • Proven ability to build or improve processes, policies, or risk frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations and claims systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office with strong analytical skills for interpreting claims and cost data.
  • Highly independent communicator with strong organization, stakeholder management, and comfort working in ambiguity.
