EHS Field Advisor

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a EHS Field Advisor in the Oil and Gas Sector in Wood Buffalo, Alberta.
The successful candidate will build strong working relationships with employees, leaders and contractors; help teams recognize and control risk; verify that expectations are understood and applied in the field; and support continuous improvement through coaching, assurance and learning from events.

Total rewards:
  • $79.00 hourly
  • 14 days on / 14 days off
  • SHIFT: 12-hour day or night shifts, based on operations
  • "This is a fly in/out position. Flights are from Calgary or Edmonton."
  • We work on an annual contract that renews at the end of the year, so it will be a short contract which will be renewed.
  • Field-based work in remote operating environments within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Accommodations, meals and site transportation/vehicle are provided for the assignment.
  • • The role requires regular travel between field locations and the ability to work outdoors in variable northern Alberta conditions.

A typical day:
  • Participate in pre-job planning, hazard assessments, toolbox meetings and other operational risk reviews, Conduct field inspections, observations and assurance activities; document findings and follow corrective actions through to completion.
  • Provide day-to-day EHS support to drilling, completions and logistics operations across active field locations, Build trust with frontline workers, supervisors, contractor representatives and operational leaders through regular field presence and practical coaching.
  • Support the identification and control of high-risk work, including mobile-equipment interaction, lifting and hoisting, line-of-fire exposure, energy isolation, pressure hazards and simultaneous operations.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss response, investigation, causal analysis, corrective-action development and communication of lessons learned.
  • Review contractor EHS performance and support alignment with site requirements, applicable procedures and regulatory obligations.
  • Monitor changing field conditions and provide timely advice when work scope, equipment, personnel or environmental conditions change.
  • Track and communicate EHS trends, emerging risks and improvement opportunities to operational leadership. Support emergency preparedness activities and coordinate effectively with site Emergency Services when required.

Successful candidates will have:
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant EHS experience in upstream oil and gas, with direct field experience supporting drilling, completions and/or logistics operations.
  • A certificate, diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of field-level hazard identification, risk assessment, control verification and incident investigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence safe work practices, coach respectfully and intervene when conditions or behaviors create unacceptable risk.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and contractors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and the ability to learn company reporting and assurance systems.
  • Additional experience considered an asset:• Seismic operations and associated remote-field, mobile-equipment and contractor-management risks, Plant turnaround or shutdown work, including high-volume contractor activity, simultaneous operations, confined space, energy isolation and work permitting, Previous EHS field experience at client or within comparable In Situ operations, A Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or active progress toward the designation, Experience supporting incident investigations and formal causal-analysis methodologies.
