Mechanical Engineering Design Lead (Conveyors)

Agilus is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Designer (Conveyors) in the Engineering Industry in Windsor, Ontario. Our client is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineering Lead to oversee all mechanical conveyor engineering activities for major automotive assembly programs. This role requires deep expertise in conveyor systems, strong 2D AutoCAD proficiency, and leadership across assembly, paint, and body shop operations. The position will be heavily plant-focused, supporting multiple sites and ensuring all technical, safety, and installation standards are met. Total rewards:- $120000.00 - $140000.00 annually

A typical day:- Lead all mechanical conveyor engineering discussions across assembly, paint, and body shop operations
- Serve as the primary expert on all conveyor system types, including Power & Free, EMS, inverted, roller, skillet, pallet, friction drive, and more
- Oversee conveyor issue tracking, resolution planning, and technical alignment
- Conduct and lead detailed engineering reviews, including chain pulls, drive studies, vertical curve studies, and cycle-time evaluations
- Review and approve contractor design drawings for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance
- Ensure complete adherence to all industry installation standards and project engineering expectations
- Work extensively onsite in Detroit, Belvidere (IL), and Toledo (OH) to support conveyor implementation
- Report directly to the program’s Project Managers and maintain alignment with all engineering documentation requirements
Successful candidates will have:- Minimum 15 years of automotive project experience
- At least 10 years of conveyor installation experience with Stellantis or an equivalent OEM
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience approved by the project leadership
- Expertise in 2D AutoCAD for conveyor layout and engineering work
- Deep knowledge of Stellantis conveyor standards and specifications
- Familiarity with safety, fire protection, and ventilation requirements for industrial installations
- Fluent understanding of all engineering discipline items listed in the detailed engineering phase
- Ability to work on extended on-site assignments across multiple plant locations
