Hatch's Geotechnical group delivers expertise in geotechnical investigations, soil and rock mechanics, numerical modeling, seismic assessments, and construction support for projects across the energy, infrastructure, mining, and metals sectors. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide analysis, design, and engineering solutions for complex projects, including dams, tunnels, rail, highways, renewable energy, and mining infrastructure. The role offers exposure to advanced modeling, site investigations, front-end studies, and detailed engineering from concept through execution. Total rewards:- $93000.00 - $120000.00 annually

A typical day:- Lead complex geotechnical projects from pre-feasibility studies through detailed engineering and design.
- Perform geotechnical analysis and design for linear infrastructure, dams, marine facilities, foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks.
- Plan, execute, and oversee geotechnical site investigations, including interpretation and reporting of findings.
- Conduct advanced assessments such as slope stability, liquefaction, seismic deformation, settlement, and lateral movement analyses.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, design criteria, and project documentation.
- Represent the geotechnical discipline in multidisciplinary project meetings and support cost estimating and proposal development.
- Mentor, supervise, and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
- Support construction and site engineering activities while ensuring safety, quality, technical excellence, and continuous knowledge sharing across projects.
Successful candidates will have:- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering; postgraduate education is considered an asset.
- 7-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience with a strong focus on soil mechanics and civil geotechnics
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Proven experience in geotechnical design, analysis, and engineering for civil infrastructure and heavy industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of soil behavior, foundation design, earthworks, slope stability, and geotechnical engineering principles.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software including Rocscience and GeoStudio; experience with CLiq, CPeT-IT, Plaxis, or FLAC is an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable geotechnical design codes, engineering standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently in multidisciplinary project environments while maintaining a strong safety focus.
