Hatch's Geotechnical group delivers expertise in geotechnical investigations, soil and rock mechanics, numerical modeling, seismic assessments, and construction support for projects across the energy, infrastructure, mining, and metals sectors. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide analysis, design, and engineering solutions for complex projects, including dams, tunnels, rail, highways, renewable energy, and mining infrastructure. The role offers exposure to advanced modeling, site investigations, front-end studies, and detailed engineering from concept through execution. Total rewards:- $93000.00 - $120000.00 annually

A typical day:- Lead geotechnical projects from pre-feasibility studies through detailed design and construction phases.
- Apply expertise in soil mechanics and rock mechanics for dams, slopes, tunnels, rail, marine infrastructure, and industrial foundations.
- Plan, execute, and oversee geotechnical and geological investigation programs, including site inspections, mapping, and modeling.
- Perform geotechnical analyses and calculations, including slope stability, foundation design, and embankment assessments.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, design criteria, and engineering recommendations.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, multidisciplinary teams, and technical specialists to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers and geoscientists, providing technical guidance and quality reviews.
- Support construction activities, site engineering teams, and project execution while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and technical excellence.
Successful candidates will have:- Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus; postgraduate education is an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required.
- 4-7 years of experience in geotechnical and geomechanical investigation, analysis, and design.
- Strong technical background in both soil mechanics/civil geotechnics and engineering geology/rock mechanics.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project teams and applying relevant design codes and standards.
- Proficiency with Rocscience and GeoStudio software; experience with Leapfrog, remote sensing tools, Plaxis, or FLAC is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and mentor junior team members.
- Safety-focused professional willing to perform both office and field work, including site investigations and remote project locations.
