Senior Customs Specialist

Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Customs Specialist in the Life Sciences Industry in Ottawa, Ontario.
This position works out of our client’s Ottawa location. In this role you will serve as a subject matter expert and project leader for all site-related import and export activities. Ensure full compliance with applicable Local customs regulations and international trade laws, including but not limited to 19 CFR, 15 CFR, FDA, USDA, and other relevant U.S. regulatory agency requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. import/export regulations, providing guidance and leadership on site and divisional customs and trade compliance initiatives.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to Customs Broker Requests for Information, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries and issues.
  • Support the implementation of corrective actions in response to findings from Corporate Customs & Trade Compliance (C&TC) assessments.
  • Conduct eligibility assessments for goods under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to optimize duty savings.
  • Assist with reporting price adjustments, royalties, and other financial elements through the CBP Reconciliation Prototype Program.
  • Provide analytical support for CBP Requests for Information, Post-Entry Amendments, and Prior Disclosures.
  • Analyze import/export data to identify compliance risks and cost-saving opportunities; provide actionable recommendations to management.

The successful candidate brings:
  • Minimum of five to six years of experience in import/export operations, international business, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, international trade, or other relevant education
  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist preferred.
  • Previous experience in Customs Compliance, Trade Specialist, or International Trade Management is ideal
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Total compensation:
  • $80000.00 - $100000.00 annually
  • 7.5% of total salary bonus
