Agilus is recruiting for a HR Manager in the Insolvency Sector in North York, ON, Ontario.
This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of Human Resources in a long-standing, entrepreneurial organization with approximately 70 employees. This is a true department-of-one role designed for a confident, “firm but fair” HR leader who can build systems, manage payroll, and navigate strong personalities with credibility and empathy. Based 100% on-site in North York, you’ll work closely with senior leadership while earning autonomy and trust. A typical day:
  • Take full ownership of the HR function as a stand-alone manager
  • Build, refine, and maintain HR processes so the “HR engine” runs smoothly
  • Manage full-cycle payroll through ADP, including vacation tracking and reporting
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and offboarding
  • Maintain HR systems and records in BambooHR or similar platforms
  • Act as a visible, day-to-day HR presence—handling conflicts and concerns directly
  • Lead performance reviews, documentation, and corrective action when required
  • Support workplace culture, morale, and engagement initiatives and events

Successful candidates will have:
  • 4–5+ years of progressive HR experience (step-up or seasoned manager)
  • Proven experience supporting 40–70+ employees
  • Hands-on ADP payroll experience (required)
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation
  • Confident, “firm but fair” approach with strong interpersonal judgment
  • Ability to manage strong personalities without being overly rigid or passive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with polished professionalism
  • CHRP or CHRL designation strongly preferred
