Accounting Analyst

Agilus is recruiting for an Accounting Analyst in the energy industry in a hybrid work environment in Toronto, Ontario.
This is a 1-year contract position with the possibility of extension based on workload and job performance.

$35.00 - $45.00 hourly

Accountabilities:

Perform complex accounting analysis and research for the GDS Affiliates team, working with groups across the organization.
Prepare and review reporting schedules for quarterly/annual filings, management reports, and month/quarter-end close.
Identify and resolve accounting issues and escalate when needed to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Review contracts before execution and determine the accounting impacts under US GAAP.
Explain complex accounting matters to management and provide timely financial information and analysis.
Work with Finance, Business Development, Energy Services, Corporate Reporting, and Accounting Research teams while improving processes.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, affiliate cost recovery processes, and ARC standards.
Support GDS affiliate budgets and forecasts and assist with ad hoc requests and special projects.

Must have:

Possession of professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience
Experience in a Public Practice Accounting role is an asset
Working knowledge of US GAAP
Proven oral and written communication skills both to technical and non-technical stakeholders including being able to present to senior management
Familiarity with Oracle, SAP and Hyperion Smartview
Experience in External Financial Reporting role
