Carbon Policy Advisor - Energy Transition

Agilus is recruiting for a Carbon Policy Advisor - Energy Transition in the Energy Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
Our Client is currently looking for an Carbon Policy Advisor on a long term contract basis in Calgary, AB or Houston, TX or possibly remote.
Responsibilities:

Provide thought leadership and critical thinking around the interactions of policy with technology and markets within the core energy transition pillars
Conduct research and analysis, and become a SME within the Energy Transition team, in the fields of energy policy, carbon markets (compliance and voluntary), and government regulations
Analyze the policy landscape, and develop and maintain regional policy outlooks for the key pillars within the energy transition sector
Identify risks, and develop fit for purpose implications for our strategy in the core energy transition pillars viz. CCUS, Hydrogen, Bioenergy and Electrification
Lead the review and development of protocols, methodologies, strategies and frameworks for quantifying emissions reductions as part of energy transition projects for Measurement, Reporting and Verification
Develop relationships with industry, government, non-profit and non-government organization stakeholders to advance regulatory and policy initiatives in the energy transition sector

Must have:

5+ years relevant work experience in carbon markets, policy, regulations, or emissions and data management in the energy sector
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Economics, or similar field
Significant experience in conducting research and analysis on carbon and energy policies, or government regulations in North America to inform corporate strategy
Experience engaging with federal and/or state governments, as well as the private sector, in the energy transition space
Knowledge of oil and gas operations, and fiscal policies related to carbon pricing
Knowledge of energy policies and regulation landscape in Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Australia is an asset
