Project Manager

Job Description:

The Project Manager will provide and apply high quality project management methodologies and techniques to manage a wide range of projects. Using high-level understanding of business and IT processes and strategy, the Project Manager will be involved in projects to enhance current operations and/or to develop new business solutions deploying technology within clients or with 3rd party vendors/partners

Job Responsibilities:

Plan, manage and successfully oversee the implementation of large, highly visible projects

Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure project completion is on time, on budget and within scope.  This includes the development and management of detailed project charters, plans, work breakdown structures and time budgets

Conduct post-project reviews to certify project success criteria have been met

Identify and assess risks,severity and impacts.  Determine and implement risk strategies and communicate risks to client and stakeholders as appropriate

Closely monitor project financials, follow-up on issues and provide regular status updates to management and stakeholders through presentations and steering committees

Monitor implementation efforts and transition issues to ensure that business risks are identified and solutions are recommended

Lead and manage project teams to effectively utilize strengths of team members

Manage stakeholder expectations, including understanding their points of views and needs while keeping Foresters Financial strategic goals in mind and fostering a win/win relationship

Leverage knowledge of business through understanding, and applying rapidly changing technology and business process delivery trends

Apply influence and negotiation to gain support and achieve consensus

Projects are"business as usual" - not new new builds and will focus on the following: server refresh, end of life support of applications, back-up remediation, DR

MandatorySkills:


Minimum 7+ years experience in a Project Management role managing a variety of business and IT project sizes and types

Minimum of 3 years working on Web Application projects

1-2 years' of IT infrastructure projects

Experience with both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies

Must have experience managing 2-3 similar projects with budgets between $500k to $2M and 5-10 resources on each; larger projects with bigger budgets is fine as well

Strong understanding of SDLC including at least 1-2 years of application projects

Experience managing both on-shore and off-shore technical teams, onsite business and technical stakeholders, as well as experience leading steering committees and presentations to executives

At least 1 year with a cloud-based project management tool such as MS Project Online, MS Office Project Server or Clarity PPM

Experience managing project financials i.e. budgeting -cannot have relied on a Project Control Officer only 

University degree

Must be well versed in project management methodology -combination of PMBOK, Iterative, Agile and Waterfall (cannot be Agile only)

Niceto Have Skills:

Experience implementing Life Insurance projects, products and IT systems and awareness of Life Insurance industry knowledge and systems features including New Business and In-Force administration

MBA would be an asset
