Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator

Agilus is recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator in the oil & gas sector in Sarnia, Ontario. Total rewards:- $40.00 - $45.00 hourly
- 6 to 12 Months of contract
A typical day:- Provide expertise on safety related topics including turnaround safety, compliance with OHSA, evaluation of new safety equipment to be used on site, Heath, Safety, Equipment and Quality (HSEQ) reviews, Turnover inspections.
- Ensure visibility in the field by completing paired inspections, and site reviews, attending meetings, and being an active participant in Site Safety Committees.
- Ensure timely review and revisions of site occupational safety standards, Actively participate in the implementation and maintenance of IMS and audits as required.
- Review existing training programs for effectiveness and implement improvements, Lead HSE related incident investigations where required, as assist with other investigations as requested.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Legislation, and Ministry orders through internal auditing, monitoring of regulatory activities, and regular interactions with internal and external organizations.
- Overseeing reporting of Environmental Statistics internally and externally, Oversees environmental Incidents, emergency response and follow up.
- Evaluates Environmental impact of proposed process changes or new facilities and provides advise on pollution control technology.
- Assist with the maintenance of site licenses for all nuclear sources, complete all reporting requirements for CNSB, and audit compliance with CNSB. Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
Successful candidates will have:- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or other EHS disciplines preferred.
- CRSP or CRST designation or working towards designation.
- Training in responsible Care, and ISO 9001, 14001 and OSAS 18001 an asset. Able to practice independently in the absence of the Occupational Health Physician (in accordance with Standing Orders).
- Strong working knowledge of Occupational Safety, Environmental and Industrial Hygiene Programs, measuring are reporting an asset.
- Regulatory affairs Emergency Response as well as Auditing Training Preferred.
- Must be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
