Cloud Accounting Specialist / Cloud Bookkeeper

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Cloud Accounting Specialist/Cloud Bookkeeper in the public practice accounting industry in Guelph, Ontario.
This is an 18-month contract with the potential for extension and the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

A typical day:
  • Managed full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll using cloud accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage Intacct, Wagepoint), including reconciliations and financial record maintenance.
  • Performed account reconciliations, historical data cleanup, discrepancy resolution, and ensured accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Set up, configured, and optimized cloud accounting systems, including chart of accounts, third-party integrations, and workflow automation.
  • Led client onboarding and migration from manual or desktop accounting systems to cloud-based solutions, including opening balance setup and process standardization.
  • Served as the primary client contact, providing accounting support, resolving issues, and advising on bookkeeping best practices and system usage.
  • Supported compliance activities, including T4s, WCB, GST/HST filings, payroll remittances, audit-ready documentation, and year-end preparation.
  • Mentored junior staff, reviewed work, delivered training on cloud accounting tools, and promoted consistent bookkeeping standards and workflows.
  • Improved operational efficiency by developing standardized processes, creating SOPs and training materials, implementing scalable solutions, and identifying opportunities to expand client services.

You bring:
  • Minimum of 2 yrs bookkeeping or cloud accounting experience in public accounting or a similar environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of cloud accounting software including QBO, Xero and various related apps such as Dext, Plooto, Hubdoc and Wagepoint is an asset.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in cloud-based accounting platforms
  • Experience with CaseWare is an asset.
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping principles.
  • Progress toward or completion of CPA designation is an asset but not required
  • Strong interest in technology and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
