Contract Field Technician, Construction

Agilus is recruiting for a Contract Field Technician, Construction in the oil & gas sector in Foster Creek,Chrisina Lake, Alberta. Contract Field Technicians play a key role as one of Construction Management Team’s primary interface with construction and commissioning contractors as well as the Engineering contractor. They have an obligation to know and support policies and procedures, standards and specifications, as well as critical contract expectations for the project. Field Technicians are required to perform the following construction and commissioning related tasks: Total rewards:- $80.00 - $97.00 hourly
- 12 Months of contract position
- Contractor can fly on CVE provided flights or can drive at the CCMT Travel Expense Guidelines rates.
- Schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off (Wednesday to Wednesday, 92hrs per shift, 12hrs per day Wed-Tues and 8hrs on the last Wed).
- Candidate would be staying at the camp; occasional expenses may be incurred for business trips as required.
- Occasional travel outside of home camp will be part of role (ie. to Calgary) Guidelines attached.
A typical day:- Review and participate in safety initiatives and adherence to Safety Management System, Participate in field hazard assessments and risk assessments, Participate in project execution planning activities (design reviews, model review, CWP reviews) when required, Develop field requisitions in consultation with Supply Chain Management, Construction Manager and Project Management Team.
- Develop technical bid evaluation and participate in contractor bid reviews, Develop and maintain performance (quantity) verification tools, Verify contractor alignment to contractual performance requirements (technical and engineering, change management).
- Support contractor and Engineering Contractor with material issues, shortage, discrepancies, Participate in contractor closeouts and lessons learned, Actively learn, participate and verify adherence to Specifications, Ongoing contractor and CWP risk identification and resolution.
- Review and recommend resolution for technical issues, Review, communicate and process contractor technical clarifications, RFIs, RFCs and FCNs, Identification and communication of risk management (safety, quality, technical).
- Ongoing communication with peers and key external project stakeholders (PMT, Engineering), Participate in contractor closeouts and lessons learned, Identification and communication of risk management (progress, cost, contractor performance, schedule).
- Ongoing communication with Cenovus peers and key external project stakeholders (PMT, SCM), Active participation in toolbox, coordination, safety and performance meetings.
- Competencies :Administration, Information and Document Management, Understanding Risk, Cost Benefit Analysis, Data Entry, Interpreting Documents/Plans, Writing, Technical Writing, Document Production, Systems Evaluation and Analysis, Coordination, Complex Problem Solving, Professional Judgment and Decision Making, Planning and Organizing, Attention to Detail.
Successful candidates will have:- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience on projects with an annual budget of +$10MM
- Knowledge of construction and change management principles, concepts and best practices.
- Experience in the mechanical services or construction industry.
- Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel).
- Field experience considered an asset.
- Able to provide a negative result on pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Valid Class 5 license
