Senior Environmental Scientist

Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Environmental Scientist in the Environmental Consulting Industry in Fort St. John, British Columbia.
Our client is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist, Remediation to lead and sign off on Stage I & II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and remediation programs for oil & gas and industrial projects across British Columbia. This role combines technical authority, project leadership, and client engagement, requiring deep expertise in environmental regulations, site assessment, and remediation strategies.

A typical day:
  • Lead and oversee Stage I & II ESAs, Detailed Site Investigations, and remediation programs for oil & gas and industrial sites
  • Review, approve, and sign off on technical reports ensuring regulatory compliance and technical accuracy
  • Develop and implement remediation strategies and creative environmental solutions for complex sites
  • Analyze and interpret soil, groundwater, and contamination data to guide decision-making
  • Provide expert guidance on BCER regulations and Certificates of Restoration (CoR) processes
  • Manage and mentor field teams, consultants, and contractors on project execution and safety standards
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting project strategy and delivery excellence
  • Champion a culture of health, safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all projects

Successful candidates will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or related discipline
  • Professional designation in BC (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., RPBio)
  • Minimum 8+ years of environmental experience, with focus on ESAs and remediation
  • Strong knowledge of BC environmental regulations and BCER requirements
  • Experience with soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and contamination assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage multidisciplinary teams and contractors
  • Excellent communication, client management, and technical report writing skills
