Hydraulics / Process Engineer

Agilus is recruiting for a Hydraulics/Process Engineer in the Oil & Gas Pipelines Sector in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
The Hydraulics & Process Engineer plays a crucial role in our mission to maintain operational excellence and foster strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. This role provides technical expertise and operational support across multiple pipelines and facilities in the Pipeline Business Unit. It focuses on steady-state and transient hydraulic analysis, supports pipeline operations and process safety, Management of Change (MOC) activities related to the role, and serves as a liaison between the Engineering team and the Control Room.

A typical day:
  • Manage the hydraulics program to ensure core models are current and readily available
  • Perform steady-state and transient hydraulic simulations to support pipeline and facility operations
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve standardized hydraulic analysis processes, including assumptions, model validation steps, and peer review practices, to ensure consistent, repeatable, and auditable technical outputs across the organization
  • Analyze operating scenarios and document results to support control room decision-making
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to operations, engineering, and leadership stakeholders
  • Lead and support Management of Change (MOC) activities for operating, design, and procedural changes, including identifying process safety impacts, updating technical documentation and operating envelopes, participating in hazard reviews (PHA/HAZOP/LOPA as required), and ensuring changes are safely implemented, communicated, and closed out with Operations and Engineering.
  • Update Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Control Philosophies, and Shutdown Keys as part of the MOC process
  • Provide hydraulic process support for commissioning, start-up, and facility optimization

Successful candidates will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of direct experience working
  • A professional Engineering designation in Alberta, as a Member of Good Standing
  • Experience with hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) or similar)
  • Knowledge of liquid and/or gas pipeline systems
  • Knowledge of Alberta’s pipeline regulations, and CSA-Z662, among other industry standards and safety regulations related to hydraulics and/or process control
  • Experience with version control systems for managing source code is an asset
