Project Controls Analyst

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Project Controls Analyst in the Oil and Gas Sector in Fort McMurray, Tar Island, Alberta.

  • $68.00 - $80.00 hourly

  • 5 days on/2 days off
  • Pay Rate on IC:80$/HR Pay Rate on T4:68$/HR

A typical day:
  • Coordinates changes in project controls processes, systems and procedures with increasing complexity. Develops estimates less than $100M independently. Ensures estimates are in line with Business Objective, Scope, Schedule, Class of Plant and “Best-In-Class.” Updates and maintains project schedules for all phases of a project with increasing complexity.
  • Solid understanding of planning processes. Incorporate resource loaded information in all relevant project schedules, including tracking and reporting. Solid understanding of Progress & Performance. Assist in auditing of engineering and construction progress. Facilitates project setup in a proper format to support closed cost and benchmarking.
  • Understands and is fully proficient in the use of Project Cost Management Systems. Technical expertise in the development and ongoing continuous improvement of the Cost Management systems. Initiates the preparation, consolidation and analysis of project reports assuming responsibility for its overall accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Compares planned, incurred, actual, and forecast hours, costs, and ultimately explaining the variances. Assist in the preparation of potential costs and make judgments regarding impacts.
  • Identifies and prepares cost estimates for change orders, trends, and extra work orders. Facilitates project setup in a proper format that supports project closeout and benchmarking. Assist in audits of engineering and construction progress. Scales concern to leadership identifying changes in execution.
  • Analyze change proposals from CWP (Contractor and compares with EWP (Engineering Work Package) / CWP (Construction Work Package) Scope of work and quantities. Perform multi-step complex level Benchmarking Analytics, utilizing internal data, external databases, external studies and publications, external databases and external published reports.
  • Begin to demonstrate multi-step complex calculations with a proficient skill in synthesizing Benchmarking Analytics (see patterns, understand them, and demonstrate ability to draw conclusions which can support recommendations).
  • Develops a sound basis for data normalization techniques to aid benchmarking reporting. Makes significant decisions and recommendations within authorized limits prescribed by supervisor and policy. Actions and decisions may have a significant influence on the operational or financial results of the project.

Successful candidates will have:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent. 5–7 years of Project Controls (or equivalent) related experience. AACEI (Assn. for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) Certified Cost Professional (recommended).
  • Exercises independent judgment and provides input and knowledge/information with other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates proficiency of standards, practices, and procedures to work activities. Demonstrates coaching and influencing skills.
