Estimator (High Voltage Substations / Transmission)

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Estimator (High Voltage Substations/Transmission) in the Utilities Sector in Edmonton, Alberta.
Estimator role supporting major transmission and substation programs. Develop detailed cost estimates, collaborate with engineering teams, and contribute to high-value infrastructure projects with long-term contract potential.
Total rewards:

$80.00 - $110.00 hourly
Long term contract with potential for extension.

Hybrid work model (2–3 days per week in office).

A typical day:

Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for transmission and substation projects
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes to support estimate development
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for labour, equipment, and materials
Apply standardized estimating practices, unit rates, and historical cost data
Identify risks, assumptions, cost drivers, and develop contingencies and escalation
Collaborate with engineering and construction teams on constructability and execution strategies
Review contractor bids, tenders, and change orders for accuracy and completeness
Maintain estimating documentation including cost models and Basis of Estimate reports

Successful candidates will have:

5–7 years (intermediate) or 8+ years (senior) estimating experience in utilities or infrastructure
Strong knowledge of transmission lines, substations, and construction methods
Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Experience with estimating tools, cost models, and advanced spreadsheets
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
