Temporary Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Are you an experienced payroll and benefits administrator? Looking for a great opportunityAgilus is recruiting for a Temporary Payroll & Benefits Specialist in the Educational Field in Calgary, Alberta. The payroll and benefits Specialist will support full-cycle payroll, benefits, and pension administration in both unionized and non-unionized environments. Total rewards:- $27.00 - $35.00 hourly
- Pay rate based on years of experience and qualifications
- Monday to Friday in office
- Location: Downtown, Calgary
- Great opportunity to work with a dynamic and supportive team
- Contract position until June 30, 2026
A typical day:- Process full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly employees is a union and non- union environment
- Administration of benefits and pension programs, supporting employee lifecycle events, retirements, and year-end reporting.
- Maintains accurate payroll and benefits data
- Ensures compliance with payroll, tax, pension, and privacy legislation.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Act as the main point of contact for employee, union, and departmental inquiries related to pay, benefits, and pensions
- Supports HRIS integrations with third-party providers
The successful candidate brings:- At least 5 years’ experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably with in-house payroll and basic accounting knowledge
- Must have NPI or PCP designation
- Working experience in a unionized environment and interpreting Collective Agreements is preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, benefits & pension administration, and employment standards
- Bachelor's degree/ diploma in Business Administration, finance, payroll or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Time management, flexible and able to work within a team and independently
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
