Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Sr Accountant (temporary) in the educational field in Calgary, Alberta.
We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a 3-month contract to support year-end activities, financial reporting, audit coordination, and process documentation within a dynamic public-sector environment. This opportunity is ideal for a CPA who enjoys technical accounting, working with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Total rewards:

$40.00 hourly
3 months contract position

Monday to Friday on site
Location: Downtown - transit accessible

A day in the life:

Prepare year-end working papers, audit schedules, and reconciliations
Support the preparation of financial statements and note disclosures.
Coordinate and respond to requests from external auditors.
Research and document technical accounting positions and complex transactions.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate financial variances.
Develop and document finance business processes and operational improvements.
Provide knowledge transfer and technical support to internal finance teams and stakeholders.

You bring:

CPA designation (CPA, CA, CPA, CMA, or CPA, CGA) in good standing.
Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong background in financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and annual audits.
Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with PSAS.
Advanced knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/financial systems.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
