Snr Mechanical Engineer (Drilling)

Agilus is recruiting for a Snr Mechanical Engineer (Drilling) in the Oil & Gas Industry in Calgary, Alberta.
You will contribute to the advancement of the company’s equipment and tool portfolio through innovative design and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for developing concepts, producing detailed manufacturing drawings, coordinating project plans, and supporting testing and validation activities. You’ll also play a key role in evaluating and optimizing existing designs to improve performance, reliability, and safety. Hands-on position with direct impact on product development, where delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions is a core expectation.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive the design and development of mechanical tools and components from initial concept through to production
  • Create and review detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and documentation in line with internal standards
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support engineering projects and business initiatives
  • Investigate technical issues, recommend practical solutions, and support ongoing product optimization
  • Track project progress and maintain accurate records, reporting updates to engineering leadership
  • Highly skilled in product design with strong fundamentals
  • Able to clearly communicate design decisions, including why concepts will or will not work
  • Experience balancing sustaining engineering (existing equipment) and new product development

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • P.Eng
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, including simulation tools (stress/flow analysis)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including material selection and performance under demanding operating conditions (pressure, temperature, vibration)
  • Exposure to MWD/LWD tools or mud motor design
  • Hands-on experience in drilling or field operations within oil & gas
  • Deep understanding of flow mechanics
