Senior Measurement & Controls Engineer – Lead Control Systems Strategy
Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Measurement & Controls Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry in Calgary, Alberta.
This newly created Senior Measurement & Controls Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to provide strategic engineering leadership across control systems and measurement for a growing energy organization. Based in Calgary, this position bridges Operations and Engineering, delivering technical oversight, long-term direction, and stakeholder alignment across PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, and measurement systems in a midstream environment.

Total rewards:
  • $145000.00 - $185000.00 annually
  • Offer a competitive, market-based base salary between $145k - $185k aligned to experience and seniority, with flexibility for the right candidate

Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering oversight and strategic direction for control systems and measurement
  • Lead governance of PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, and control system standards
  • Act as the technical authority supporting Operations and field-based technicians
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align engineering and operational priorities
  • Support field locations through periodic travel across Western Canada
  • Guide continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and controls
  • Review and approve control system designs, modifications, and upgrades
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Requirements:
  • Hold a Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng) in Canada
  • Bring strong experience in control systems, PLCs, and instrumentation
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of measurement systems and standards
  • Possess experience supporting midstream crude or similar energy operations
  • Show ability to operate at both technical expert and leadership levels
  • Exhibit strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Be comfortable traveling to field locations as required
  • Thrive in a role bridging Engineering and Operations functions
