Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Controls & Automation Engineer in the Engineering consulting industry in Calgary, Alberta.
The Senior Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer will report to the Project Manager on small projects and for larger projects, to the Control, Automation and Electrical Lead Engineer. This role will have two distinct functions: 1) on-site commissioning engineer, and 2) office-based as Senior Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer.

This is an onsite / in office position

A typical day:

Independently execute commissioning activities, including FAT and SAT testing.
Troubleshoot and resolve on-site technical issues with minimal supervision.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and guide contractor personnel.
Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule, cost, and engineering requirements.
Prepare and review technical documentation, engineering deliverables, and shop drawings.
Monitor fabrication and construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering designs.
Conduct quality reviews, audits, corrective actions, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Develop Functional Control Specifications, program control systems, and provide engineering progress updates.

Successful candidates will have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and P.Eng. designation
10+ years of project engineering experience, including 2-3 years of commissioning.
Strong background in electrical design within large, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Hands-on site experience with the ability to work independently and resolve issues.
Proficiency in PLC/DCS programming, preferably Rockwell; DeltaV and ABB experience is an asset.
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant Electrical, and SmartPlant Instrumentation.
Strong leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills with experience supervising teams.
Safety-focused, self-motivated professional willing to travel and work in fast-paced environments.
