Intermediate Land Representative

Calgary, AB

Agilus is recruiting for a Intermediate Land Representative in the Midstream Oil and Gas Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
Own the day-to-day land scope on integrity digs, capital projects, and development programs. Act as the primary liaison between Engineering, Operations/Construction, contract land agents, and landowners/tenants, ensuring timely acquisition of land rights, effective issue resolution, and accurate land data management throughout the project lifecycle.

Total rewards:
  • $45.00 - $55.00 hourly
  • Strong potential for contract extension.
  • Preferred rates for benefits coverage.
  • Opportunity to work for an Industry leader.

A typical day:
  • Facilitate resolution of complex land issues, claims, and grievances; assess precedent-setting impacts and escalate with recommendations to leadership and Legal as needed.
  • Direct and advise contract land agents, appraisers, consulting foresters/surveyors, and other third parties; set clear deliverables, safety expectations, and quality controls.
  • Maintain current, accurate records in the land database/ROW management system (e.g., instruments, legal descriptions, payments, obligations, and conditions).
  • Coordinate land activities for integrity projects, maintenance digs, and small capital works; translate engineering scopes into clear land/ROW requirements and timelines.
  • Identify land constraints (encroachments, third-party crossings, setbacks, environmental/survey needs) early and propose mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule and budget.
  • Lead and/or support acquisition of temporary workspace, easements, consents, access agreements, and damage settlements; prepare offers and negotiate terms aligned with company standards and precedent.

Successful candidates will have:
  • 4–7 years of progressive land/ROW experience in pipelines, utilities, or energy infrastructure—either in-house or with a land broker/agent.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating land rights (TWS, permanent easements, access/consent), resolving claims, and closing files with clean, auditable documentation.
  • Working knowledge of survey principles, title review, encumbrances, and land registry systems; ability to read legal plans, legal descriptions, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with integrity programs, maintenance windows, environmental and cultural constraints, and construction sequencing.
  • Strong stakeholder skills with rural and urban landowners, municipalities, and third parties; tactful, firm, and solutions-oriented communicator.
  • Proficiency with land/ROW databases and MS 365; comfort generating reports, trackers, and correspondence (offers, ROEs, settlement agreements).
