Global Tax Provision Specialist

Agilus is recruiting for a Global Tax Provision Specialist in the Energy Industry in Calgary, Alberta.
The Global Tax Provision Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing the tax provision process, including compliance with ASC 740 and IAS 12.
A day in the life:

Oversee the global quarterly and annual income tax provision process
Prepare and/or review income tax provisions under ASC 740, including current and deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, and related disclosures
Ensure compliance with IFRS (IAS 12) tax accounting and reporting requirements
Prepare and review tax-related footnote disclosures in accordance with ASC 740 and other relevant accounting frameworks
Maintain detailed documentation supporting tax positions, return-to-provision adjustments, valuation allowances, and other provision-related analyses
Conduct research on complex tax matters and prepare technical memoranda
Monitor changes in tax legislation and accounting standards
Liaise with external auditors to facilitate the audit of tax-related balances and financial statement disclosures

Successful candidates will have:

5+ years of relevant tax experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm, with a focus on ASC 740 tax provision
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
3-5 years of experience in a role in global provision
Proficient in ASC 740 and IAS 12 and other relevant tax regulations
Experience with tax provision software (e.g., OneSource), consolidation tools and ERP systems
