Document Controller - Contract
Calgary, AB
Agilus is recruiting for a Document Controller in the Oil and Gas Industry in Calgary, Alberta. This role supports daily document control for Midstream operations, including Process Safety and MOC requirements.
You will be responsible for receiving, reviewing, processing, tracking, and maintaining controlled documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper approvals, traceability, and accessibility. It also identifies documentation gaps, follows up on outstanding items, escalates issues as needed, and provides clear updates on progress, risks, and completion. A typical day:- Manage daily document control activities (receive, review, process, issue, and maintain documents accurately and on time).
- Track and maintain document records, logs, and systems to ensure traceability, visibility, and audit readiness.
- Process and manage Process Safety and MOC documentation, including intake, validation, tracking, and close-out.
- Review documents for completeness, correct metadata, approvals, and compliance with standards.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve gaps, obtain missing information, and support timely completion.
- Maintain master document sets, ensuring current versions are controlled, accessible, and properly archived.
- Monitor workflows and deadlines, escalating delays, discrepancies, or risks as needed.
- Upload and manage documents in OpenText (and other systems), ensuring proper structure, metadata, and compliance, while providing status updates and supporting audits.
Successful candidates will have:- 5–7 years of experience in document control or technical documentation, ideally within oil & gas, engineering, or industrial environments.
- Proven experience managing the full document lifecycle (intake, numbering, metadata, revisions, distribution, and archiving).
- Familiarity with MOC, Process Safety, or operations documentation, including tracking requirements and closing documentation gaps.
- Experience using document management systems (e.g., OpenText, SharePoint) with strong attention to metadata, structure, and traceability.
- Solid understanding of document control principles, including revision control, numbering, filing, and records integrity.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking to identify issues, inconsistencies, and missing information.
- Effective communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and escalate risks or delays as needed.
Total rewards:- $45.00 hourly
- Contract Position: Until the end of 2026

- Pay rate: $45+ (depending on experience)
