Contract Sr. Crown Royalty Analyst

Agilus is recruiting for a Contract Sr. Crown Royalty Analyst in the oil & gas sector in Calgary, Alberta.
The Operations Controllers team has a temporary contract opportunity in Royalty Accounting for a Senior Crown Royalty Analyst to apply their operational and/or financial skills in the area of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Royalty Accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with finance, operations, and regulatory teams to ensure accurate cost analysis and application, royalty calculation, reporting, and overall administration of EOR Royalty Projects within the OSR Crown Royalty group.

Total rewards:
  • $55.00 - $67.00 hourly
  • 8 months of contract position
  • 5 days on / 2 days off

A typical day:
  • Generate and submit annual estimate Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) filings with the Saskatchewan Government.
  • Interpret financial results and complete variance analysis for various levels of management during monthly, quarterly, and annual GL periods.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to calculate annual EOR rates for use in forecast, budget and long range plan and book associated YTD financial true-up accruals in SAP.
  • Work closely with Audit function and assist with Saskatchewan Crown audits.
  • Coordinate with Crown Royalty Analysts, Capital and Operations accounting functions as needed to ensure accurate EOR expense reporting.
  • Assist in calculation of monthly royalty accrual.
  • Interpret Crown Royalty policy and ensure timely and accurate system configuration to calculate royalty obligations.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with information on royalty related issues, Ad hoc projects as required.

Successful candidates will have:
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent work experience in accounting or finance. A professional accounting designation would be an asset.
  • Minimum 9 years of oil and gas accounting experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and SAP skills. Proficient with Group Reporting, Power BI, Spotfire, BW.
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, including A/P, A/R, revenue, royalties, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of oil and gas accounting, including operating, capital and production accounting, Working knowledge of SAGD operations and Saskatchewan Enhanced Oil Recovery Royalty regulations.
  • This position offers the successful candidate the ability to work in a team environment to develop new processes, use their critical and creative thinking skills and develop a strong understanding of EOR Royalties to add value to the business.
