Contract IT Project Manager

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Contract IT Project Manager in the Oil and Gas Sector in Calgary, Alberta. Contract Project Manager to lead the delivery of large, complex enterprise technology and business transformation initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Major Project Delivery within Data & Information Technology (D&IT), this role will provide strategic leadership and oversight for high-profile programs, ensuring successful delivery through effective planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. Total rewards:- $77.00 - $115.00 hourly
- 12 Months of contract position
- Pay rate on T4:77$- 94$
94$ - 115$ Pay rate on IC
- 5 days on / 2 days off
A typical day:- Program & Project Delivery: Lead the end-to-end delivery of large, complex technology and business transformation programs.
Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with defined business objectives.
Establish and maintain effective project governance, controls, reporting, and risk management processes.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Provide strong leadership across cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance,
Build and maintain trusted relationships with executive sponsors, business leaders, technology teams, systems integrators, and external vendors, Effectively communicate project status, risks, issues, and recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Strategic Planning & Roadmap Development: Develop, maintain, and manage strategic program roadmaps aligned with business priorities and corporate objectives.
Identify dependencies, risks, resourcing requirements, and opportunities to optimize program outcomes, Ensure project priorities remain aligned with changing business needs and organizational strategy.
- Technology & Business Alignment: Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define objectives, requirements, scope, and success criteria, Translate business needs into actionable project plans and delivery strategies, Ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable, and support long-term business goals.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Manage relationships with systems integrators, consulting partners, and third-party vendors.
Oversee contract deliverables, service levels, budgets, and performance expectations, Ensure external partners remain aligned with project objectives and execution plans.
- Resource Planning & Coordination: Coordinate efforts across multiple business and technology teams.
Drive prioritization of work, resolve resource conflicts, and remove delivery obstacles.
Ensure appropriate allocation and utilization of program resources.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics.
Provide regular program reporting to leadership teams and steering committees.
Drive data-informed decision-making to improve project outcomes and delivery effectiveness.
- Change Leadership
Lead organizational change management activities associated with major technology and business initiatives.
Support stakeholder adoption through effective communication, engagement, and transition planning.
Successful candidates will have:- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline, Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- 15+ years of progressive project and program management experience, including leadership of large-scale enterprise technology and business transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar budgets and complex, cross-functional programs, Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and multiple workstreams simultaneously, Strong background managing executive stakeholders, steering committees, and external vendors.
- Project Management Expertise: Proven experience delivering large-scale initiatives from business case development through implementation and operational transition, Experience utilizing Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies, Strong understanding of project governance, financial management, risk management, and organizational change management.
- Technical & Business Acumen: Broad understanding of enterprise applications, digital technologies, cloud platforms, data management, and IT infrastructure, Ability to bridge business objectives and technology solutions effectively.
- Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
Additional certifications such as Agile/Scrum, Prosci Change Management, SAFe, or ITIL are considered assets.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, negotiation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to influence outcomes and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
