Contract Senior Geologist – Oil Sands Geoscience | Calgary | Competitive Rates
Agilus is recruiting for a Contract Geologist in the Oil and Gas industry in Calgary, Alberta.
Join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team as a Contract Senior Geologist, driving optimisation of SAGD pads across major thermal assets. This role focuses on production efficiency, reservoir integrity, and innovative geoscience solutions to maximise long-term value.

A typical day:
  • Support short- and long-term development plans including well execution and surveillance
  • Provide geological properties for production forecasting and regulatory applications
  • Drive workflow optimisation projects to improve geoscience and reservoir engineering outputs
  • Conduct resource assessments using integrated datasets for SAGD pad lifecycle forecasting
  • Interpret observation well programs and cased-hole logging data including RSTs and thermocouples
  • Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate 4D seismic into geological models
  • Characterise reservoirs using geoscience datasets and production results
  • Monitor reservoir integrity and troubleshoot production and steam trends

Successful candidates will have:
  • Professional Geologist designation with APEGA or APEGS accreditation
  • Minimum 8+ years of geoscience experience
  • Preference for SAGD thermal or enhanced oil recovery experience in Alberta or Saskatchewan
  • Experience in horizontal well planning and execution considered an asset
  • Advanced technical competency in geoscience disciplines with strong integration skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and influence without authority
  • Strong communication skills for conveying complex information clearly
  • Ability to proactively monitor reservoir integrity and containment issues
