Upstream Operations Finance Analyst - Conventional Operations
Agilus is recruiting for a Contract Financial Analyst in the energy / oil and gas in Calgary, Alberta.
An opportunity to build deep upstream financial and operational expertise within a collaborative Conventional Operations Finance team. This role supports key financial processes, partners closely with operational stakeholders, and contributes to performance reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ideal for an experienced analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.
Total rewards:

$60.00 - $65.00 hourly
Preferred rates for benefit coverage available
Weekly pay including 4% vacation pay
Exposure to upstream operations and strategic initiatives
Meaningful impact on operational and financial outcomes

A typical day:

Interpret operational financial results and develop clear qualitative insights
Support monthly performance management and reporting processes
Prepare operating expense accruals, allocations, journal entries, and reconciliations
Analyse profit and loss results and investigate variances
Act as a liaison between operations and finance teams
Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities
Investigate and resolve joint venture billing disputes and audit inquiries
Identify and implement process and reporting improvement opportunities

Successful candidates will have:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP reporting systems
Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Minimum 5+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience
Oil and gas accounting or reporting experience
Professional accounting designation considered an asset
Strong analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset
