Capital Portfolio Analyst

We are looking for youAgilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Capital Portfolio Analyst in the oil and gas industry in Calgary, Alberta. In this role, you will work closely with finance, operations, engineering, and leadership teams to enhance capital portfolio visibility, strengthen spend governance, support forecasting activities, and deliver meaningful business insights. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can quickly step into a fast-paced environment, work independently, and make an immediate impact. A day in the life:- Perform forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting activities
- Analyze data from various business systems and sources to provide actionable business insights
- Develop, monitor, and distribute KPIs, operational cost reports, G&A reporting, and performance dashboards
- Collaborate with finance, operations, engineering, and leadership teams to support workforce planning, labour allocations, and cost management initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, cost controls, data quality, and operational efficiency
- Maintain and support capital portfolio governance processes, ensuring accurate tracking of actual and forecasted spend
- Prepare and coordinate Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documentation and approval workflows
- Track maintenance capital programs, budgets, commitments, and expenditures across multiple projects
Successful candidates will have:- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience in capital planning, capital portfolio management, project controls, cost control, operations finance, or a similar analytical role
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, spend governance, and capital investment processes
- Hands-on experience preparing or supporting AFEs, capital approvals, and project financial tracking
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling
- Experience within energy, midstream, utilities, infrastructure, mining, manufacturing, or other asset-intensive industries is highly preferred
- Workday preferred. JD Edwards and Power BI are assets
Soft skills:- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across multiple business functions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and quickly adapt to new environments
Total rewards:- $50.00 - $60.00 hourly
- Pay rate based on experience: $50-$60 T4, $61-75 as an incorporate
- Hybrid: 4 days a week in office
- Gain experience supporting large capital portfolios and operational spending programs
- Location: Downtown, Calgary
