Agilus is recruiting for a Director, Facilities & Real State in the Financial Services Sector in a hybrid work environment in Mississauga, Ontario.
Are you a seasoned facilities leader with a passion for creating safe, efficient, and innovative environments? Symcor is seeking a Director, Facilities & Real Estate to oversee enterprise-wide real estate and facilities operations across Canada. This is your opportunity to manage a national footprint, drive strategic initiatives, and make a lasting impact on workplace transformation.

A typical day:
  • Real Estate & Lease Management: Develop and execute Symcor’s real estate strategy; lead lease negotiations and manage landlord relationships.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage $20M premises budget and $3–4M capital budget; forecast, approve contracts, and identify 3–5% savings opportunities.
  • Facility Operations: Oversee 9 facilities nationwide (corporate and production sites); ensure 100% uptime for mission-critical services.
  • Project & Construction Management: Lead planning and execution of renovations and capital projects; manage RFPs, contracts, and timelines.
  • Strategic Planning: Evaluate assets, optimize space utilization, and assess new real estate opportunities for growth or acquisition.
  • ESG & Sustainability: Integrate environmental initiatives into facilities management practices.
  • Health & Safety Leadership: Champion compliance programs, emergency preparedness, and training across all sites.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of 9+ including facilities managers, health & safety, and contract/budget specialists; foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Successful candidates will have:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate real estate and facilities management.
  • Proven success managing budgets of $10M+ and multi-site operations.
  • Strong background in facilities management (fire safety, health & safety) with real estate exposure.
  • Experience leading teams of 5+ and overseeing large-scale projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 skills (Excel for budgeting, PowerPoint for executive presentations).
  • Knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and space planning.
  • Ability to travel nationally 1–2 times per year and be on call for critical issues.
  • Nice-to-Haves: ESG experience, bilingual (French), CADD knowledge.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively with VP/SVP-level executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Technology Integration: Familiarity with digital tools for facilities management, space planning, and reporting dashboards.
  • Crisis Response: Capability to manage emergency situations and ensure business continuity under pressure.
