Plant Protection Officer

Agilus is recruiting for a Plant Protection Officer in the chemicals industry in Sarnia, Ontario. This position ensures the Security of employees, contractors and visitors, as well as assets at Sarnia Site. It also provides Emergency Response Services to ensure professional and swift response in case of an internal or external incident causing a potential threat to the site and its workers. Total rewards:- $24.54 hourly
- 18 - month contract

- Shift - 3 Days, 3 Off, 3 Nights, 4 off
A typical day:- Monitoring the ingress and egress of employees, contractors and visitors; ensuring they have the appropriate security passes by monitoring an access computer. • Issuing security access cards to employees and contractors once they have met the required criteria; consists of recording personal and access data into a Windows based program and printing of access cards.
- Monitoring of 25+ Closed Circuit Television Cameras; looking for unusual activity and security threats to the site. Operation of the site switchboard.
- Recording of chemical deliveries, ensuring that drivers have the necessary PPE and go to the correct destination.
- Conduct random security inspections of vehicles entering and leaving the site; looking for unauthorized removal of company materials, tools and equipment. Ensures that authorized material leaving the site is accompanied by the correct gate pass, filled out properly and that the person authorizing the removal is legitimate.
- Signing in of visitors and notifying their host of their arrival. Ensuring that all visitors have viewed the site safety video and issuing of visitor passes.
- Educating the plant population on security procedures. Enforcement of company security and safety procedures and the reporting of violators.
- Mobile and foot security patrols of the company site identifying security threats, security violations and safety hazards. Ensure that buildings remain secure and that systems such as HVAC and utilities are not malfunctioning.
- Monitoring of site fire, trouble and security alarms and notifying the appropriate personnel should they activate. Dispatch site emergency response forces to site emergencies such as fires, chemical releases, spills and medical emergencies. Respond to site emergencies providing medical assistance, traffic control, accountability services and other support as required. Notify site management of all emergencies and provide updated information as required.
Successful candidates will have:- College Diploma
- First Responders Certification
- Security Guards and Private Investigators license
- Current G-License in good standing.
- Must possess good customer service skills and strong communication skills
- Proven experience in emergency response or Canadian Red Cross Medical
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office & SAP
