Director of Projects / Senior Project Manager

Agilus is recruiting for a Director of Projects/Senior Project Manager in the Engineering Consultancy Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
Lead EPC projects and oversee a portfolio of work in a small, agile EPCM firm. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on project delivery.
A typical day:

Manage full lifecycle of select EPC projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets are met.
Oversee project portfolio and mentor project managers to ensure consistent delivery standards.
Lead proposal development, scope definition, estimating, and scheduling for new projects.
Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) to monitor performance and forecast outcomes.
Develop integrated project schedules and manage schedule risks proactively.
Manage procurement processes, including bid packages, vendor selection, and contract negotiation.
Support claims management and issue resolution with a proactive, documentation-driven approach.
Serve as a senior escalation point for project issues and client concerns.

Successful candidates will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; PMP certification is an asset.
15+ years of progressive experience in EPC project management.
Proven ability to manage multiple small to mid-sized projects concurrently.
Strong background in scope development, estimating, and change management.
Experience with both lump sum and cost-reimbursable contract models.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and team leadership.
Proficient in EVM, project controls, and risk mitigation planning.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
